Job description

Job Purpose :

Provides safety and wellbeing for all beneficiaries, families, staff, and visitors and protects and promotes Lili'uokalani Center facilities. The Security Administrator is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating comprehensive security operations, including risk mitigation strategies and loss prevention efforts across all areas of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Develops and implements an effective and efficient 24-hour / 365-day security plan, appropriate investigative procedures for security incidents, and assists in administration of LC's emergency operations plan for disaster management
  • Oversees all aspects of security and loss control, including development and facilitation of security and safety training and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Creating, updating, and enforcing location specific post orders
  • Responds to all emergencies and alarms
  • Effectively takes immediate action to intervene whenever conditions exist that pose an immediate threat to life or health, or pose a threat of damage to property, buildings and / or equipment.
  • Approves and writes daily activity logs and incident reports
  • Provide oversight and direction to third-party security contractors
  • Collaborates and communicates with LC staff and external groups to effectively resolve security related issues
  • Assists LC staff with de-escalation and crisis management
  • Serves as a community liaison with outside organizations, such as fire department, police department, mutual aid societies and rescue teams, etc.
  • Patrols LC facilities and grounds to identify potential fire, safety or health hazards, trespassers, property damage or other potentially dangerous, hazardous, suspicious or illegal conditions / activities
  • Escorts trespassers, loiters, and other unauthorized persons off property
  • Controls, manages, and monitors vehicular traffic and parking
  • Secures LC property to ensure the public's safety
  • Assists with locking and unlocking facility entries for daily or event activities
  • Collaborate in the development and execution of LC's Policies and procedures, facility and program rules, and all relevant safety and security systems
  • Provides technical advice, interpretations and / or makes effective recommendations regarding applicable policies, procedures and other administrative requirements

Other Duties :

  • Participate in program planning, budget development, revision, and evaluation as it relates to security and safety
  • Provides transportation for organization related business, such as driving staff, beneficiaries and / or families to assigned destinations
  • Participates in continuing education and training opportunities for professional development
  • Contributes to the Trust's success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improves team and organization results
  • Leads other projects as assigned.
  • Delivers programs or services as needed.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and holidays to meet key deadlines. Able to travel to meet strategic needs.
  • Qualifications :

  • BA in related field preferred, or equivalent experience. High School diploma required,
  • Must have a valid State of Hawaii Drivers License
  • Experience in security, crisis management and or law enforcement involving public contact preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic keycard access and video surveillance systems
  • Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA, EPA, state health regulations, hazardous materials, laws pertaining to the workplace environment and emergency preparedness preferred.
  • Proven ability to operate and utilize 2-way radio communication and knowledge of procedures in accordance with best practices.
  • Proficiency working with Computers, tablets, mobile devices and supporting software.
  • Experience in youth work and comfort in youth focused environments
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills

  • Interpersonal Skills : Ability to work well under pressure and to remain calm and controlled when faced with challenging situations
  • Travel Requirements :

    In alignment with our organizational competencies of Alu Like I ka Hana (Teamwork) and Ho`omau i ka `imi Na`auao (Continuous Learning and Improvement), this position will require occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state depending on the needs of the team and the organization. While travel may not always be a need, the ability to travel when required remains a crucial aspect of this position in order to successfully contribute to our concerted efforts to carry out our Queen's legacy.

    Lili'uokalani Center (LC) :

    Informed by a deep understanding of the adolescent experience and grounded in Hawaiian culture, the new LC will provide Hawaiian youth with opportunities to connect to peers and mentors, receive supportive services, and discover pathways to passion, purpose, and prosperity. LC will be LT's signature youth development hub for culture, creativity, technology, and play, and will serve as a resource center where youth can connect to vital supports and a vibrant community. LC will be a safe space located in urban Honolulu where youth are inspired to pursue their dreams, including exploring pathways in the arts, sports, technology, and entrepreneurship while receiving wraparound support to help them reach their goals and become thriving adults. A primary function of LC will be to provide a space for young people to play, to learn, to find connection and inspiration, and to experience joy.

    Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 50 lbs. and over, perceive depth, operate motor equipment. Mentally alert, emotionally stable and physically fit in order to cope with emergencies.

    Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, excessive heat, cold, humidity, dampness and chill, dry atmosphere, excessive or intermittent noise, constant noise, dust, slippery or uneven walking surfaces, working at heights, using chemical agents and traveling by UTV or vehicle.
