About the role : NSW is working to establish a Common Digital Foundation (CDF) a shared, secure, and interoperable foundational data platform. As a Data Architect / Data Engineer, you will be a core member of the team responsible for designing, building, and managing the infrastructure that underpins the CDF. You will work collaboratively with developers, data scientists, and other key stakeholders to ensure the CDF is VAULTIS (visible, accessible, understandable, linked, trustworthy, interoperable, and secure) compliant and scalable to meet current and future needs of NSW. This role requires a blend of data architectural skills and hands-on engineering expertise.

Responsibilities :

• Define and implement a next-generation data architecture for the CDF to ensure long-term scalability.
• Create and manage robust and reliable data pipelines from diverse data sources (e.g., structured, semi-structured, and unstructured) aligning with data governance policies, security standards and industry best practice.
• Develop and implement data standards, procedures, and definitions for data governance as required aligning with higher headquarters policies when applicable.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies and tools.
• Ensure data curation processes maintain accuracy and integrity through a quality assurance process.
• Work closely with data analysts and data scientists to ensure data solutions are accessible and reliable.
• Design and implement effective data storage solutions using appropriate technologies (e.g., cloud, on-premise).
• Contribute to the documentation of data architecture, data pipelines, data catalog, and ETL capabilities.
