Job description

Under minimal supervision maintain, monitor, and carry out duties as an Industrial Waste Operator. Actively perform maintenance and operations in both the Wastewater and Solid Waste Departments and comply with current permit and code requirements and carry out duties in a timely manner with the utmost regard for safety. In addition, treat and recycle used industrial oils for fuel blending or reuse.

JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Conduct routine plant inspections and maintenance to ensure POTW Permit release requirements are met :
  • Obtain samples throughout the WWTP to ensure permit requirements and operating licensing requirements are met. -
  • Conduct treatability testing on sales and solidification samples
  • Operate and monitor plant systems with the implementation of new control strategies.
  • Identify, adjust and repair system problems through monitoring, visual observation and based on interpretation of laboratory test results and supervisory instructions and guidelines.
  • WASTE TREATMENT MAINTENANCE DUTIES

  • Perform routine maintenance, outage maintenance and housekeeping
  • Install and replace filters, gasket, cylinders, O-rings, and seals
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs
  • Perform other preventive equipment maintenance tasks
  • Obtain samples and conduct treatability studies on "Pit Water"
  • Maintain / complete daily log book process logs
  • QUALIFICATIONS : (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)

  • A high school diploma and trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week.
  • Experience working independently with functional guidance rather than with constant supervision.
  • Proficient with basic computer skills including excel, email, and data logging. -
  • Must have knowledge and ability to operate basic shop tools, machinery, forklifts and other components used in a process plant / maintenance environment.
  • Have working knowledge of operation of machinery and equipment utilized to pump, treat, process and filter wastewater.
