American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring a ME or compact RN license and at least one year of specialty experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 44-bed medical surgical telemetry unit within a Level II Trauma CenterPatient population includes adult medical diagnoses excluding primary cardiac, such as stroke, respiratory illness, GI bleed, renal failure, and electrolyte imbalancesPatient ratio for RNs is 1 : 4-5 on days and 1 : 5-6 on nights, subject to acuity and support staffUses telemetry monitoring, Alaris, Pyxis, and Cerner (Cerner experience not required)12-hour day shifts from 7A-7P with every other weekend rotationNo on-call requirementsFloating as needed to any area with Med / Tele patients within or below scopeResponsibilities include telemetry monitoring, trach care, chest tube and central line management, wound care, IV starts, and general Med / Surg nursing dutiesSupport provided by CNAs, charge nurse (typically without patient assignment), 24 / 7 house supervisor, RT, hospitalist, and allied health during days2 days of hospital orientation plus one unit shift providedFlu vaccination required for clearance, with only medical exemptions allowed pending approvalNo holiday time off (RTO) permitted at this timeProfessional scrubs of any color required, no crocs with holes or artificial nails allowedFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 1 year recent Med / Surg Tele RN experienceCurrent BLS requiredNIHSS and ACLS preferredProficient in EKG interpretation and rhythm strip readingExperience with cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips preferred (training available)Previous charge nurse experience highly preferredMust not have worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacityPermanent address must be 100+ miles South or Southwest of Bangor, ME for travel eligibility\n Benefits\n
