American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of Med / Tele experience and active ME or compact licensure.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with 48 beds (Merritt 3) and 10 beds (Haskell 3)Cares for both surgical and cardiac telemetry patient populations, including ortho, vascular, GI, bariatric, and cardiac casesRN patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 on nights in Med / Surg and 1 : 5 in Cardiac TeleAll beds have remote telemetry monitoring capabilityShift is 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, 12-hour nights, with every other weekend required and occasional back-to-back weekendsRequired to float between Merritt 3 (Surgical) and Haskell 3 (Cardiac Tele) and possibly to other units within scope of practiceUses Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensingNo on-call responsibilitiesLevel 2 trauma environmentDuties include caring for a varied post-surgical and cardiac patient population, monitoring telemetry, administering cardiac drips, and performing advanced nursing interventionsThe unit is supported by charge nurses, CNAs, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, and PAs overnightTwo days of hospital orientation plus a unit orientation shift are provided, along with required HealthStream / iCare modulesFlu vaccination is required for all starts after 9 / 30 / 2024, with medical exemptions only by approvalProfessional scrubs required; any color permitted, but no logo shirts or sweatshirtsNo artificial nails, Crocs, or cell phone use in patient care areasFree parking is availableHoliday coverage may be required with manager approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license in ME or compact stateMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience requiredBLS, NIHSS, and basic EKG (cardiac rhythm strip interpretation) certifications required and must remain currentStrong telemetry nursing experience, including rhythm interpretation, is mandatoryGeneral post-surgical experience required; vascular and ortho post-op preferredPeripheral IV starts, wound care, trach care, TPN, chest tubes, drain management, and ability to manage insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips are requiredExperience with Epic EMR preferredNot accepting first-time travelersMust not have ever worked in a permanent position at any Northern Light Health hospitalMust reside at least 100 miles south or southwest of facility for consideration\n Benefits\n
