American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care high-risk setting, requiring a current NV RN license and advanced fetal monitoring skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Provide care in a Level 3 high-risk Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospitalUnit includes 17 L&D beds, 16 postpartum beds, 4 triage beds, and 2 OR suites for C-sectionsPatient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : 2 : 1 for normal labor, 1 : 1 for high-risk labors, 4 : 1 for couplet care, and 2 : 1–4 : 1 for antepartum based on acuityApproximately 250 births occur monthly in this unitNurses circulate and recover their own C-section patientsRequired to float to postpartum and other units as neededNight shift position with 12-hour shifts, every other weekend requiredNo call or on-call requirementsCerner EMR system is used in the unitNurses are responsible for circulating and recovering C-section patientsCertified surgical techs and secretaries provide ancillary support in the unitOB / Neonatologist and anesthesia providers are in-house 24 / 7Orientation to the unit is provided over 3 days for travelersNavy blue scrubs or light blue OR scrubs are requiredHoliday coverage is required as neededSelf-scheduling is submitted through TEAM, finalized by a scheduling committeeFirst to float among staff assignmentsLocal candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n \n Requirements\n
Active NV RN license required at time of submission; compact licenses accepted for NV locationMinimum 2 years of recent L&D experience in a high-acuity setting requiredCurrent certifications in BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) requiredAbility to independently perform vaginal exams, place internal monitors, and manage high-risk labor and antepartum patientsExperience titrating Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Insulin, and Heparin drips requiredMust be able to read and interpret fetal monitor strips effectivelyReferences from one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years requiredMust submit a copy of driver's license for employment considerationNo previous direct employment with any CommonSpirit Health facility within the past year\n Benefits\n
