Overview

Under the direction of the Graphic Artist IV, the Webmaster will manage website content and technical operations, including design, maintenance, security, and user experience, ensuring they align with organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Website Maintenance & Updates - Regularly update WordPress core, themes, and plugins to ensure security and stability, and apply security patches and fix bugs.
  • Content Management - posting and managing content such as public notices, regulatory updates, news, and educational materials. Ensuring all content is accessible, accurate, and up to date.
  • Security Monitoring & Compliance - Implement and monitor security tools (work with KRUSH). Ensure the website complies with state and federal standards, such as ADA (Accessibility), Section 508, and cybersecurity protocols (like NIST).
  • Backup & Recovery - set up automated daily backups and test recovery procedures (work with KRUSH). Maintain rollback capabilities in case of data loss or a site crash (work with KRUSH).
  • Performance Optimization - Optimize site speed and load time using caching, image compression, and CDN services. Regularly audit for broken links, unused plugins, or slow-loading scripts.
  • SEO & Analytics - Implement SEO best practices to ensure content visibility on search engines. Track and analyze web traffic using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console.

  • Design Consistency & Branding
  • Compliance with legal requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of computer technology; of programming languages; of ADA accessibility standards; of coding processes and security measures; of specific agency functions and business needs; of changes in computer technology and specific applications systems; and of laws, rules and regulations affecting the business needs of the organization. Ability is required to review and translate specifications; to develop and use appropriate testing protocols; and to review and analyze user requests and other information.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, web design, web development, or information assurance, and five years of professional experience.

The selected applicant must pass a background check. Individuals may be required to pursue NAIC designations as job duties require.

Telework

This position may be eligible for telework each week under OID's Telework Program after initial training.
