The NYC Department of Design and Construction's Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a Junior Engineer (Capital / Scope) to join the Program Management's Engineering and Support Services - FEP / Drainage Planning and Modeling / Capital / Scope Engineering) team.

Successful candidate will report to an Engineer-In-Charge and will work on complex project planning and preliminary design analysis in support of multiple City initiatives and the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)'s Long Term Control Planning for roadway, sewer, and water main projects.

Additionally, the selected candidates will receive hands on training and assist with moderate to difficult engineering work, such as, research studies, engineering investigations, and examinations relating to engineering functions. The work and / or training will be in one or more of the following specialized engineering areas : drainage and grading analysis, structural computations, preliminary design development, design drafting, engineering investigations, field surveys / site inspections, and cost estimating.

CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN - 20202

Minimum Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.

Preferred Skills

Please note the following preferred skills for this position : 1. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills 2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD 3. Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and / or water main) 4. Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards 5. Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices 6. Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred) 7. Valid driver's license (required) 8. Personal vehicle (optional)
