Job Description :
L3Harrisis currently searching for a Supplier Quality Engineerlocated in Salt Lake City Utah. The Supplier Quality Engineersupports customer business supply base program and product success through analysis and application of supply chain management quality engineering failure analysis business acumen and continuous improvement processes across the business and within the supply base. The Supplier Quality Engineer is a member of the Supply Chain team.
Essential Functions :
- Support and assist with the continuous improvement efforts deployment and management of a business-appropriate Supplier Quality Engineering program addressing customer supply base proposal process program and hardware areas
- Lead an Integrated Product Team (supplier quality procurement subcontract managers supply chain engineering) as the supplier quality representative and present to supply chain management quarterly
- Assure financial goals and measures are met. Perform data analytics associated with Cost of Poor quality and determining solutions to be implemented to reduce the cost
- Continuously improve the supplier quality assurance and incoming inspection organizations planning tools and processes for the development qualification and management of suppliers and subcontractors
- Measure monitor report and improve the internal and external performance of all areas of responsibility including supplier and subcontractor performance across the supply base
- In partnership with Supply Chain Engineering and Manufacturing continuously improve design manufacturability test and inspection information to assure improved performance of the products produced by the supply base and their integration into the divisions deliverable goods and services
- Support product development reviews within the supply base
- Assist with quality audits failure analysis and incident investigations to address customer and business specific quality engineering and reliability related criteria in partnership with Supply Chain Engineering Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management
- Partner with Supply Chain Management and Supply Chain Engineering to develop advanced risk management tools and reporting mechanisms. Including risk management for supplier involving supplier corrective actions get well plans probation / restriction letters
- Assist with annual operating plans and business strategies for the Supplier Quality Assurance and Receiving Inspection teams
- Interface with customer and program representatives throughout the program life cycle in supplier quality assurance related activities and tasks.
- Execute continuous improvement activities related to the Supplier Quality Assurance team as assigned by Leadership
- Perform source inspection and direct customer shipments from the suppliers and subcontractors.
- Mentor and train new Supplier Quality Engineers as a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer
- Provide support for best practices associated with Supplier Quality including both quality and on-time delivery
Qualifications :
Bachelors Degree in engineering related discipline (e.g. Electrical Mathematics Systems etc.) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.10 years experience in any of the following positions in a Defense or Aerospace company : Quality Engineer Quality Assurance Process Engineer10 years experience with supply chain management / supplier management processes tools and techniques6 years experience with Failure Mode Effects Analysis is desired (e.g. DFMEA PFMEA)6 years experience with continuous improvement related analysis tools and techniques (e.g. design for six sigma root cause analysis statistical process control lean manufacturing techniques Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS))6 years hands on experience with and knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article requirementsPreferred Additional Skills :
Graduate degree in an Engineering discipline and / or an MBAProfessional certification is desired (e.g. APICS PMP CMP Quality Engineering Six Sigma)QMS Lead auditor experienceNADCAP special processes and special process auditingExcellent communication and teambuilding skills and an ability to manage relationships with internal and external customers fostering a relationship of trust and mutual respectKey Skills
