Overview
Performs project management specialist work for Department projects. Work includes coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Critical Path Method (CPM) for Department projects, and providing support for resource leveling, priority development, project analysis, reporting, and training. Works directly with the project manager to help define the project's goals and objectives. Work requires extensive contact with department staff, governmental agencies, and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties Project Management II
- Plans, develops, maintains, and makes recommendations concerning detailed project schedules and facilitates on-time completion of projects with the optimal level of resources available.
- Monitors and reviews the work of others to ensure project plans and schedules include the entire scope of work, management requirements, schedule hierarchy, division of responsibility, schedule review and approval requirements.
- Performs project monitoring and data collection to determine if a project is progressing according to budget.
- Coordinates project meetings and conducts presentations.
- Supports Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, budgeting, and baseline management policies, practices and procedures.
- Monitors and reports on major milestones for the program portfolio.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Duties Project Management III
Evaluates and makes recommendations for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project plans and schedules so that projects may be executed in the most efficient and effective manner possible.Identifies risks, assess their impact on projects and develops contingency plans to mitigate potential impacts.Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, specifications, drawings, and related documents.Oversees the scheduling of all activities associated with assigned projects to produce an integrated critical path schedule, updates as required and reports potential problems and / or problem areas.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications.Project Management Specialist II : Experience : 2 years project management or development, construction / engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.Licenses and Certifications : Valid US driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.Project Management Specialist III : Experience : 4 years project management or development, construction / engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).
