Position Summary
The Financial Analyst is responsible for tracking financial performance of operations expense, forecasting, and variance analysis. The analyst assists and supports short and long-term Maintenance Capital and O&M expense planning activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform detailed variance analysis of actual financial results versus plan, forecast, and key performance metrics.
- Identify trends in variances and make recommendations for financial improvement and optimization to management.
- Work closely with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate with field analysts, operations management, and project managers to accurately budget and forecast projects and expenses.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards and KPI reports to provide real-time insights to senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Develop and maintain long-range planning models to forecast future financial performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Appropriately categorize projects as Growth, Maintenance, or Expense in accordance with corporate capitalization guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance management reporting for Joint Ventures.
- Conduct comprehensive financial modeling to support strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, capital investments, and market expansion.
- Support the company-wide annual planning process and subsequent monthly forecasting process.
- Increase productivity and efficiency by developing automated reports and processes.
- Provide support for earnings releases, 10-K, 10-Q, and other external financial reporting.
- Contribute to overall Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team goals as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business preferred; equivalent work experience acceptable.Associate Analyst – 0-2 years; Analyst – 2-5 years; Senior Analyst – 5-8 years of related work experience.Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Highly proficient with MS Excel and PowerPoint.Highly organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks.Self-starter with ability to learn quickly.Proactively seek continuous improvement opportunities.Take initiative in leading projects and driving results.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.IBM Cognos TM1, Power BI, Alteryx, SAP, Power Query, Pivot Tables experience preferred.Working Conditions
Normal office working conditions.Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.Occasional overnight travel may be required.Occasional visits to industrial / manufacturing settings, including exposure to various materials and chemicals, extreme temperature conditions, loud machinery, and the need for appropriate personal protective equipment.Seniority Level
