Essential Job Functions :

The primary responsibilities for Teacher Assistant include :

  • Entering weekly grades
  • Entering daily attendance
  • Support students with work completion
  • Student lunch time supervision
  • Prep materials for instructors
  • Supervise students on weekly field trips
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support of USFUB mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
  • Participate in USFUB weekly staff meetings.
  • Attend instructor orientation / planning sessions and program activities.

The primary responsibilities for Resident Advisors include :

  • Must stay in the dorms overnight
  • Providing supervision of all residential students.
  • Assisting in the set-up and clean-up of the UB residence hall common areas or other rooms used by the program.
  • Assisting in gathering supplies for program activities.
  • Supervising free time activities for students.
  • Providing academic assistance during study hall.
  • Supervising UB students during field trips and / or program events.
  • Assisting in planning, coordinating, and implementing social, cultural, and
  • recreational activities.

  • Following and enforcing the rules and regulations of the University and the Upward Bound Program at all times.
  • Providing supervision during mealtimes.
  • Participating in nightly staff meetings with the residential team.
  • Supervising use of all program equipment and immediately reporting any misused, missing or damaged property to the Director / Associate Director.
  • Assisting in enhancing the living environment and promoting an educational
  • atmosphere in the residence hall.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Directors.
  • Prepare students for End of Summer Open House
  • Skills / Abilities :

  • Skills and knowledge to effectively work with students with diverse academic,
  • socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Ability to understand and enforce all USFUB Program policies.
  • Education and Training :

  • Minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education completed
  • Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands :

  • Requires passing fingerprinting and a background check.
  • Requires certificate of completion of Mandated Reporting Training and USF
  • trainings related to working with minors.
