Shape a Safer World with STERIS
Join a team dedicated to protecting patients and supporting healthcare providers. As a Surgical Instrument Field Repair Specialist, you’ll restore precision instruments used in surgery—working from a fully outfitted mobile repair truck and partnering with hospital teams each day.
A Day in the Life
Picture this : You start your morning in a company vehicle, heading to a local hospital. Your mobile workshop is stocked with tools and parts. Throughout the day, you’ll inspect and restore instruments—buffing and polishing, reshaping, sharpening, and ensuring hinge points and serrations function flawlessly. You’ll step inside the hospital frequently to pick up and return sets, then return to your truck to complete the work with care. Your craftsmanship helps surgical teams deliver safe, effective care.
Training and Career Start
No prior surgical instrument repair experience? That’s fine—we provide extensive hands-on training. Candidates with practical, mechanical, or assembly backgrounds tend to thrive. Experiences such as hands-on repair, assembly, product testing, small engine repair, cell phone / electronics repair / testing / re-builds, carpentry, circuit board assembly / repair, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, construction, welding, fabrication, and automotive repair all translate well.
