Job DescriptionThe Field Service Engineer plays a critical role in the successful delivery and performance of BW Water’s treatment systems. This position is responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater treatment systems at customer sites. As a key technical representative in the field, you will ensure that all systems are delivered and supported with the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
This role collaborates with cross-functional teams—including client personnel, subcontractors, engineering, supply chain, quality control, and project management—to execute installation and startup activities, train end users, and ensure a smooth handoff of equipment. You may also oversee projects executed by other Field Service Engineers, performing quality checks, resolving site or equipment issues, and coaching others to support team growth and performance.
This is a hybrid role based in either our Tampa, FL or Minneapolis, MN office. When not traveling or on-site at a customer location, you are expected to work from the office at least three days per week.
Job RequirementsAssociate’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or a related technical field required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
5–10 years of hands-on field service experience, preferably in water/wastewater treatment or a similar industrial setting
Experience working with pumps, valves, PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems preferred
Proven experience with system commissioning or installation
Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience working in multilingual environments; English proficiency required—additional languages a plus
Valid driver’s license and passport required
Must be able to travel 50% to 85%, including international travel
Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, confined space, lockout/tagout) are advantageous
Ability to work independently in office, remote, and field-based environments
Job ResponsibilitiesInstall, start up, and commission water treatment systems in coordination with project teams
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems on-site
Assist with site preparation by reviewing technical documentation such as P&IDs and installation manuals
Conduct operator training and provide hands-on support for ongoing equipment operation
Complete and submit daily field service reports, sign-off documentation, and change logs
Provide technical feedback to internal teams (engineering, project management, product design) based on field observations
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while working at customer sites
Support warranty work, system upgrades, retrofits, and spare part installations
Promote customer satisfaction and serve as a technical liaison between the client and internal departments
