Albizu University is seeking qualified applicants for the Staff Accountant position within the Finance Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the accounting and financial operations of the University. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities. The Staff Accountant works collaboratively with Finance and other departments to ensure compliance with institutional policies, accounting standards, and sound financial management practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely data entry for accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Prepare, review, and process invoices, billing statements, and payment vouchers for customers and vendors.
• Reconcile financial documents, including receipts, purchase orders, and payment vouchers, in accordance with established accounting procedures.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring timely recording of all financial transactions.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, both digital and physical, ensuring compliance and accessibility.
• Assist in preparing financial reports related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other key financial indicators.
• Monitor account balances and support reconciliation of general ledger accounts as needed.
• Respond to inquiries from staff, students, and vendors regarding billing, payments, and account status.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to identify and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial data.
• Assist with internal and external audit preparation and respond to audit requests as needed.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or designated leadership.
