Responsibilities Work within the hospital float pool, primarily on a Med / Surg unit with a focus on surgical specialty patients Care for patients pre- and post-surgical services, including ENT and transplant cases Patient ratios are 5 or 6 : 1 for surgical patients and 3 or 4 : 1 for step down patients Care involves patients with new drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, NGT or DHT Three 12-hour day shifts per week No operating room assignments Engage in patient care for a diverse surgical population with complex needs Expected to manage wounds, drains, trachs, ostomies, and provide step down level care Must be able to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care independently Strong communication skills for interactions with patients and families regarding care plans and discharge 50 mile radius rule applies; no local candidates considered Previous candidates may be limited to one contract extension and require a 6 month break before being rehired Requirements Active OK or compact RN license required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA required Minimum of 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience required Previous travel nurse experience and step down experience required Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred Ability to provide competent care for post-operative and step down patients Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-632035.
