General Machinist II

JSG is seeking a CNC Machinist II for an onsite, contract to hire position for a client in Diamond Bar, CA. Work hrs. : 6am - 2 : 30pm. This is an apprentice level position. Working under the supervision of the Manufacturing Lead and / or the Manufacturing Supervisor, the General Machinist II sets up and operates machine tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machines. The General Machinist II works to the dimensions and tolerance of the piece to be machined and the sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts or a description of parts. Plans and executes assignments using machine tools including boring tools, calipers, drilling machines, grinding machines, lathes, milling cutters, and workshop presses.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts
• Work to dimensions and tolerances provided by blueprints
• Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision work
• Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools
• Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Edit programs as needed / Write short programs as needed
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine needs for adjustments or repairs
• Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal
• Scan all jobs through the Made2Manage (M2M) system

Pay : $22 - $28 per hour
