Civilian Police Cadet

As a Civilian Cadet with the Department, incumbents must successfully complete all training academy requirements and subsequently pass the State Peace Officers Exam. During the entirety of the training academy, a cadet will develop knowledge and proficiency in many areas, that include but are not limited to the interpretation of State, Federal and local laws and City ordinances.
In addition to laws and ordinances, cadets are responsible for learning police department policies, procedures, and regulations. Cadets must develop skills and proficiency in the use and care of firearms, emergency vehicle operation, and successfully pass the fitness exam. Upon graduating from the academy, Cadets become commissioned police officers.

Miscellaneous : Uniforms and / or personal protection equipment (furnished). Special Requirements : Must be able to work holidays, weekends, or after hours for special events, meetings or during emergency situations as required.
