Strategic Events Manager
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Strategic Events, this position works with the Strategic Events team in the planning, developing, and the execution of strategic events, to garner maximum exposure and support for the universitys mission, goals, and priorities. This position collaborates with colleagues in the University of Idaho Foundation, University Events, and the President and Provost offices. The position provides event support and guidance, ensuring that all events advance the universitys brand, organizational objectives, and development strategies.
The Strategic Events Manager oversees the organization, management, and event support for all university events. Duties will include :
- Assisting with planning, coordination, and execution of university events
- Managing operating budgets
- Sourcing and managing external suppliers and vendors
- Managing, coordinating, and facilitating unified communications for events
- Collaborating with internal departments
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience :
Three years of event leadership and management experience including :Development and implementation of programs, activities, and large-scale projects, which include conceptualizing, coordinating detailed plans, and follow through to meet deadlinesExecution of outcome-based events that promote or advance a brand and / or support organizational objectivesManaging multiple projects and events with competing timelinesRequired Education :
High School Diploma or equivalentRequired Other :
Willingness to travel and work extended hours with a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidaysMust have a valid drivers license and ability to meet U of I driving requirementsAdditional Preferred :
Knowledge of event industry standards, best practices, and trendsExperience in fundraising or advancementExceptional verbal and written communication and editing skillsDemonstrated accuracy and attention to detail and meticulous organizational skillsExperience using Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) technology and event management softwareTwo years of project management experienceExperience in operational efficiency and optimal use of resources; an aptitude for use of data and metrics in decision-making; the ability to plan, monitor, and tightly manage a budgetDemonstrated ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a high-stress environment, identifying and independently resolving problems swiftlyPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions :
