Babbitting Service Inc, (BSI) is looking for a dedicated, reliable, and experienced individual to fill a position as a Packaging Material Laborer / Handler in our Shipping and Receiving department at our South Elgin headquarters. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of our precision machined parts and packaging for safe transit / shipping.

For consideration of this onsite, full-time role, our candidate must have experience in packing using wood to construct crates and using cut pieces of wood to secure heavy loads in crates. Candidate must also be proficient in using cardboard boxes and packaging materials of various shapes and sizes for safe and quality shipping of lighter precision machined parts. This position reports directly to the Production Manager and will work closely with the Shipping and Receiving department team.

The normal work schedule is 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm, Monday - Friday.

Requirements :

• Assist in the preparation and organization of packaging materials for shipment
• Pack and seal cartons or boxes to prepare for safe shipping.
• Build custom wood crates or shipping per company specs.
• Familiar with and follow the ISPM-15 regulation for wood packaging.
• Coordinate all labels and paperwork on all packaging containers.
• Coordinate packaging information with company management.
• Inspect packaging materials for quality and report any issues or shortages
• Proficient math skills.
• Ability to use hand tools, saws and other small tools, instruments to ensure proper fit and accuracy.
• Use of carpentry tools and measuring equipment.
• Able to stand for long or extended periods of time.
• Ability to operate a manual and motorized hand or pallet jacks or use of forklift.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks consistently
• Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial or receiving environment is a plus.
