Job Title : Clienttion Therapist Profession : Clienttion Therapist Specialty : Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 8 AM - 4 PM Hours per Shift : 40.00 Experience : 2 years of recent experience in clinical therapeutic radiation therapy License : Client License Certifications : ARRT certification in Clienttion Therapy Must-Have : Experience with Varian TrueBeam technology & Mosaiq EMR Description : Delivers therapeutic radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions provided by the Clienttion Oncologist. Checks the prescription to ensure accuracy of dosage and to eliminate errors. Takes and interprets port images to determine accuracy. Ensures image is reviewed and approved by a Clienttion Oncologist. Prepares treatment room and equipment for patients, including immobilization devices, field parameters, and beam shaping. Explains procedures and sets up patients for treatment. Observes and reports changes in patient's condition to the Clienttion Oncologist or radiation therapy nurse. Records treatment administered in patients' charts and record / verify systems. Performs chart checks and reports any discrepancies. Performs daily QA and safety checks as required by regulations. Maintains equipment in safe and good working condition. Reports defects or deficiencies for adjustment and repair to the chief technologist and / or medical physicist. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition. Stocks and replenishes supplies as needed. Performs other related duties as required. Accurately sets up patients for treatment. Administers radiation treatments. Maintains accurate daily treatment records. Performs simple dose calculations using computer software. Checks the Clienttion Oncologist's prescription to determine any mathematical or technical errors. Performs safety checks on treatment machines / simulators and records data daily. Verifies / Localizes treatment area using radiographic film or electronic medium and submits films for further action. Interprets beam films to ensure accuracy and follows through with having films checked and approved by the appropriate Clienttion Oncologist. Understands the function of the equipment and utilizes it to its full potential. Understands the use of wedges and compensating filters, and appreciates the implications of misuse or omission during treatment. Is familiar with all procedures and practices before proceeding with patient setup. Contacts appropriate staff if uncomfortable or unsure of procedures. Detects treatment unit malfunctions and knows when safe limits of malfunction have been reached. Reports malfunctions to Senior Therapist, Chief Therapist, and Physics. Explains treatment procedures to patients, answers questions, and reassures patients to alleviate fears and apprehension. Maintains visual and audible communication with patients during treatment. Reports any unusual or adverse patient reactions resulting from radiation treatment to the appropriate staff member. Instructs student radiation therapists. Assists Senior Therapist in evaluating students at the end of their rotation. Maintains an organized treatment room stocked with supplies. Assists Senior Therapist with chart checks and scheduling as needed. Attends chart rounds, displays films, and participates in discussions about patient treatment. Attends in-service and ad hoc training sessions. Creates immobilization devices during simulator rotations and adjusts shielding blocks as needed. Keeps patients in the waiting area informed about delays and any progress made in resolving them. Displays professional behavior at all times. Performs other duties as assigned.
