This position is responsible for sustaining engineering, design, and documentation of existing products, product extensions, for rigid, flex and / or rigid-flex products. The Product Engineer performs multiple assignments of moderate to complex scope with minimal guidance. Independently evaluates, select and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Under direction of the Product Engineering Manager, engineering of PCB tooling, methods, materials and documentation to insure the most productive manufacturing process of APC products. This includes but is not limited to rigid, flex and rigid flex products required for the manufacture and inspection of printed circuit boards and assemblies.
  • Research and analyze data (such as customer design requirements, specifications and standards) to establish concept, feasibility, and applicability of product design.
  • Learn existing product technologies, troubleshoot production issues, develop alternative processes / solutions to improve product, and drive to optimum customer solutions.
  • Develops and creates product routings and manufacturing tools and based on customer requirements and manufacturing process guidelines.
  • Interact directly with customers to identify key deliverables and establish product specifications to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Address and resolve production and customer problems related to product design.
  • Apply sound engineering principles, practices and procedures and possess a working understanding of common manufacturing processes.
  • Review new products with cross functional disciplines to ensure they meet expectations before released.
  • Actively participate or lead assigned projects
  • Work to a schedule and provide estimated completion dates for projects and update commitments as required.
  • Communicate existing design, manufacturing or quality issues with Engineering Manager.
  • Responsible for quality improvements and cost reduction of assigned products. Share responsibility meeting departmental cost reduction goals.
  • Responsible for direction of activities and functions related to product design for cost, quality and delivery.
  • Actively participate or lead assigned projects
  • Maintains systems and procedures.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred mechanical or electrical or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience working with Rigid, Flex or Rigid-Flex products.
  • Experience with CAD (preferable Solidworks), Frontline Genesis, Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organization skills, ability to manage critical tasks independently and work in collaboration with others.
  • Solid technical skills and analytical proficiency.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with operations team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others in a fast-paced work environment.
  • U.S Citizen required to support government contracts and programs.
