Certifications : Registry in ARDMS or CCI as a Cardiac Sonographer required; BLS required
Must-Have :
Ability to operate echocardiography and vascular equipment.
Familiarity with PFT, EKG, and stress testing equipment required.
Basic computer skills including :
Turn your personal computer on and off.
Recognize the four major parts of the computer.
Identify and explain the use of the four parts of the standard keyboard.
Recognize the mouse and understand how to use it.
Open and close a program using Windows.
Recognize and understand the operator panel on a printer.
Load paper.
Description :
Performs echocardiography and non-invasive vascular ultrasound diagnostics testing.
Delivers direct patient care and performs all diagnostic echocardiography, including Doppler, 2-D, and m-mode and stress echocardiograms.
Assists with TEE imaging and EKG stress testing.
Performs all diagnostic, non-invasive vascular ultrasound imaging and non-imaging studies, including carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, segmental blood pressure studies, arterial Doppler wave forms, pulse volume recording, thoracic outlet testing, and photoplethysmography.
Administers image enhancing agents as needed, starts / discontinues IV access for administration, and performs bubble studies.
Explains diagnostic procedures to patients and families using verbal, written, and demonstrative skills.
Maintains and cleans all non-disposable equipment used in echocardiography and vascular areas.
Processes and files reports according to documentation standards for cardiopulmonary lab diagnostic studies.
Maintains patient files and copies of tapes, applies charges, and completes log sheets according to department procedures.
Organizes, counts, and records inventory in collaboration with other cardiopulmonary diagnostic staff.
Stocks and maintains supplies.
Participates in quality improvement activities in collaboration with the Coordinator / Director and staff.
Adheres to dress code.
Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.
Meets all departmental specific competencies.
Adheres to policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.
Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures.
Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Schedule includes working one weekend and one weekend of call every 6-7 weeks.
On call in the evening approximately every 8 days.
