Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Parkersburg, WV 26101 (West Virginia healthcare jobs)

Setting : Acute Care – Med / Surg / Infectious Disease Unit (all private rooms)

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 10 / 2025 – End : 2 / 9 / 2026)

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Shift : 12-hour nights (1900-0730), weekends as scheduled

Unit Ratio : 1 : 5-6 (1 : 4 for COVID patients)

Charting System : EPIC

Scrub Color : Royal Blue

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license (West Virginia or compact state)

BLS certification (AHA required)

Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg nursing experience

Strong knowledge of Infectious Disease, Isolation precautions, and Med / Surg protocols

Travel nursing experience required

Ability to float to other Med / Surg units as needed

Must provide an unexpired copy of driver’s license upon submission

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate patient care for infectious diseases including COVID, MRSA, and C-Diff

Implement isolation precautions and infection control protocols

Administer IV medications, antibiotics, and set-rate drips (no cardiac drips)

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team members, including CNAs and respiratory therapists

Document patient care using EPIC electronic health records

Participate in block scheduling and work every-other-weekend as required

Float to other Med / Surg units as needed based on staffing requirements

Attend 1 day of EPIC orientation and 1 day of unit orientation with a preceptor
