Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager will lead complex, cross?functional initiatives for a large public health organization, ensuring projects are aligned to portfolio priorities, delivered to scope and schedule, and supported by strong governance and stakeholder engagement.
This is a contract position located in Sacramento, CA. The assignment is onsite five days per week, Monday through Friday. The initial duration is 36 months with two optional one?year extensions.

- What You'll Do Lead full lifecycle delivery for multiple complex projects using PMI / PMBOK best practices and established PMO governance.
- Develop and maintain project artifacts and documentation : concept statements, charters, work breakdown structures, schedules, risk / issue logs, communication plans, and status reports.
- Ensure consistent application of portfolio management methodology, including prioritization, cross?program alignment, and portfolio?level risk management.
- Define scope and deliverables with sponsors and stakeholders; establish effective communication and collaboration strategies.
- Provide regular executive?level status updates; prepare briefing materials for steering committees and decision forums.
- Manage risks, issues, scope, schedule, and budget; implement change control and mitigation plans.
- Track performance across projects; identify dependencies and portfolio?level impacts; recommend resource allocation.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies as needed and maintain artifacts in Jira and Confluence.
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across projects and the portfolio.
- What You'll Bring 10+ years of project management experience, including 6+ years as a Senior Project Manager leading complex, multi?stakeholder initiatives.
- Proven success implementing PMO governance, portfolio management, and resource optimization across concurrent projects.
- Expertise with PMI / PMBOK practices and familiarity with Agile methods such as Scrum, SAFe, or Kanban.
- Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills with experience briefing executives and steering committees.
- Proficiency with Atlassian Jira and Confluence; experience with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- PMP and / or CSM certification.
- Public sector or health services program experience.
- Hands?on portfolio analytics and reporting experience.
- Experience facilitating executive steering committees and large stakeholder groups.
