Opportunity Snapshot :

A hospital in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for weekend call coverage due to a temporary lack of coverage. This short-term locum role offers the opportunity to perform a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures in a hospital and clinic setting.

Coverage Date : November 27, 2025 | 7a7a

Schedule :

Weekend call (Saturday and Sunday)

Practice Setting : Hospital-based with outpatient clinic and lab support

Patient Population : Adult

Average Procedures : ~8 per weekend (GSI, Hepatology, RGA, Surgery, Colon, EGD, ERCP)

EMR : Epic

Trauma Designation : None

Required Procedures / Duties :

Esophageal Dilatation & Manometry (and interpretation)

Small Bowel Biopsy

Lower GI Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy

Liver Biopsy

Management of Sengstaken / Blakemore Tube

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

Upper GI Endoscopy (Diagnostic & Therapeutic) including :

Biopsy

Foreign Body Removal

Fulguration of Bleeder (Cautery or Laser)

Injection or Banding of Varices

ERCP

PEG Placement

Requirements :

Board Certified Gastroenterologist Required

Active Virginia Medical License Required

Flu Shot Required

COVID Vaccine Highly Preferred

Must be available for the full coverage date Required

Clean Malpractice History Required for Temporary Privileges
