Flex Manager, Business Development

This is a temporary role.

The Flex Manager, Business Development is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and delivering new business opportunities that drive long-term revenue growth across designated properties and markets. This role is essential in expanding the property's market presence by leveraging data analytics, industry insights, and collaborative partnerships to support sales objectives and business growth. This position supports targeted business objectives by ensuring the accurate and timely turnover of qualified leads to the sales teams.

Key responsibilities include mining and analyzing data to uncover new business opportunities, aligning research efforts with sales strategies, and delivering qualified leads or prospects to the property-based sales teams. The role involves leveraging marketing campaigns, trade shows, and internal systems to identify leads, while maintaining meticulous records in centralized tools and databases.

The manager oversees the full lifecycle of business developmentfrom uncovering and identifying group, corporate, and transient demand to delivering high-quality leads to property sales teams. This position ensures alignment with organizational goals by integrating research with marketing campaigns, trade shows, and internal systems, while maintaining accurate records in Marriott's centralized database system. The manager builds strong relationships with stakeholders, internal and external customers, and delivers insights and recommendations clearly at all levels.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience

Required

High school diploma or GED; 2 years' experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional area.

OR

2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; no work experience required.

Preferred

4-year college degree; previous experience in proactive lead generation in hospitality and sales discipline; knowledge of property-specific business segments (e.g., group, catering, transient); knowledge of the hospitality industry.

Core Work Activities

Identify and qualify new potential sales leads through strategic research, data analysis, lead mining, and industry trends.

Analyze and interpret data to pinpoint prospects that meet specific business criteria and opportunity objectives.

Research leads using relevant databases, Marriott systems, and external resources to ensure accuracy and relevance to maximize engagement and conversion.

Prioritize outreach and research efforts based on property-specific needs, seasonality, and market potential. Utilize marketing campaigns, trade shows, and other promotional initiatives to generate leads.

Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and revenue teams to align research efforts with business goals and strategies.

Provide property-based sales professionals with actionable insights, business development opportunities, and project outputs.

Deliver internal lead details, from opportunity to lead handoff, including customer information, where applicable.

Ensure timely follow-up on property submissions, verifying receipt, review, and response with priority assessment.

Create, maintain, and update centralized databases, spreadsheets, and tools with accurate lead and project data.

Record all research findings and sales activities in Empower and other central repositories.

Monitor and report on lead generation performance, providing regular updates and meaningful check-ins with stakeholders.

Foster strong communication with sales professionals to support lead conversion and business growth.

Provide regular reporting and insights on pipeline health, lead quality, and market opportunities to senior leadership
