Role & Responsibility :
Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success
- Handle a caseload of workers’ compensation claims (typically moderate to high complexity), ensuring timely and accurate processing from initial injury report through resolution.
- Review and analyze injury reports, medical records, bills, and employer reports to determine compensability and appropriate benefit levels.
- Coordinate and manage medical treatment, rehabilitation, return-to-work programs, modified duty assignments, and case management activities.
- Communicate effectively with injured employees, supervisors, medical providers, legal counsel, and insurance carriers.
- Conduct investigative activities including witness interviews, site inspections, review of OSHA / incident reports, and evaluation of claim fraud indicators.
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory authorities, including the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Participate in settlement negotiations, including preparing case summaries, settlement analyses, and coordinating sign-off from required stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with risk management, human resources, legal counsel, and loss control teams to identify trends, monitor exposures, and recommend proactive strategies to reduce claims frequency and severity.
- Maintain accurate claims data in the claims management system, ensuring completeness of documentation and timely updates
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
At least 5 years of experience handling workers’ compensation claims in a sizeable portfolio (employer side, carrier side, or third-party administrator).Proficient in workers’ compensation laws, statutes, regulations (preferably Maryland jurisdiction) and claims practices.Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate complex medical and legal information, cost projections, and settlement strategies.Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport and influence across functional teams.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment.Experience with claims management software and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for reporting).Strong ethical standards and commitment to integrity and fairness in claim handling.Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent work experience).
