About The Position

Job Title : Sterile Processing Technician

Profession : Technologist or Technician

Specialty : Sterile Processing

Duration : 8 Weeks

Shift : Night

Hours per Shift : 7.5 Hours (11 : 00 PM - 7 : 00 AM)

Experience : 1.5+ years of experience accepted if tertiary experience; 2+ years of experience if not.

License / Certifications : Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD must not expire during term of assignment). High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Must-Have :

• Ability to lift / carry 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift, and / or reach for extended periods of time.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and follow oral and / or written instructions.

Description :

Large, busy state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center providing sterile processing services for multiple facilities.

Facility also provides emergency services for the area.

Responsible for disassembling, cleaning, sterilizing, reassembling, and packaging sterile supplies according to specifications and / or manufacturer instructions.

Follows department protocols during all procedures.

Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures.

Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.

Retrieves used trays, instruments, and equipment from surgical and clinical areas for decontamination.

Examines instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality.

Identifies malfunctioning items, records related information, and promptly notifies supervisor or biomedical engineer.

Assists in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels.

Performs required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.

Scrubs provided must be laundered at the facility.

Shoes, jewelry, hair, and beard must be covered.

No nail polish allowed.
