Job descriptionProgram CNC equipment (multi-axis milling, turning, and Swiss CNCs) using Mastercam, Fusion 360, and Part Maker for medical-grade materials such as titanium, stainless steel, cobalt-chrome, and PEEK. Set up and optimize machining processes to achieve tight tolerances and superior surface finishes required for orthopedic devices. Apply advanced metal removal techniques with high-performance cutting tools to improve cycle times while preserving material integrity. Read, edit, and troubleshoot G-code; macro programming experience preferred. Design custom cutting tools and work holding fixtures in SolidWorks, tailored for orthopedic implant geometries and delicate surgical components. Fabricate fixtures using both manual and CNC equipment for high-repeatability production. Select cutting tools and machining strategies for complex orthopedic features, including bone screw threads, implant contours, and instrument mating surfaces. Support finishing processes such as honing, surface grinding, tumbling / mass finishing, and media blasting, ensuring biocompatible finishes. Provide technical input on coatings and treatments commonly used in orthopedics (e.g., anodize, passivation, nitriding, titanium anodizing). Work within controlled environments under ISO 13485, ISO 900X, or AS9100 quality standards, ensuring complete documentation for regulatory compliance. Maintain exceptional organization in both shop and digital file management to meet traceability requirements in medical manufacturing. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to develop processes that meet FDA and international medical device regulations. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent 10+ years professional CNC programming and setup experience. Strong background in multi-axis milling, turning, and Swiss-style CNC machining for medical device or orthopedic component manufacturing. Proficient in Mastercam, Fusion 360, and Part Maker CAM programming. Expertise in fixture design / fabrication and toolpath optimization for orthopedic geometries. Deep understanding of machining medical-grade metals and plastics. Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485, and other regulatory / quality system requirements. Proven ability to maintain tight tolerances and pristine surface finishes for medical components. Strong organizational skills in shop, office, and digital file environments.
