Hours : 7 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM (Potentially earlier for training)
Responsibilities :
Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, drills, and other machinery under minimal supervision.
Work with analog micrometers, ensuring precision within tenths and 50 millionths.
Maintain extremely close tolerances and perform quality machining of various materials.
Fabricate parts from raw materials based on blueprint specifications (no second-operation work).
Perform prototype machining and research & development tasks requiring high precision.
Plan and lay out work, determining necessary materials, machining sequences, and tooling requirements.
Interpret blueprints, route sheets, and other specifications to determine job requirements.
Compute accurate mathematical dimensions and use precision measuring instruments.
Exercise considerable care in handling tools, equipment, materials, and machinery to prevent damage.
Ensure adherence to all safety and quality standards.
Qualifications :
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational training.
Minimum of 8+ years of machine shop experience, including machine programming.
Experience working with tight tolerances and highly precise machining operations.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and safety guidelines.
Strong mathematical skills, including knowledge of proportions, percentages, geometry, and algebra.
Proficiency in using shop mathematics, measuring tools, and precision instruments.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to non-standard machining challenges.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Basic computer skills for data entry and job tracking.
