Job Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to handle high-volume payroll processing while performing in-depth analysis and resolving discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems—especially PeopleSoft—federal and state labor regulations, and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex payroll issues with precision and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :

Process full-cycle payroll for [insert number] employees on a [bi-weekly / semi-monthly / monthly] basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Maintain and audit payroll data including hours worked, wages, bonuses, taxes, and deductions.

Research, analyze, and resolve payroll discrepancies, including pay calculation errors, timecard issues, benefit deductions, and direct deposit problems.

Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reports after processing.

Collaborate with HR, Finance, and department managers to ensure data integrity and resolve issues.

Analyze payroll reports to identify trends, errors, or irregularities and recommend corrective actions.

Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.

Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner.

Prepare payroll journal entries, audit reports, and ad-hoc reports as needed.

Support audits and ensure proper documentation for internal, external, and regulatory audits.

Utilize PeopleSoft payroll and HR modules to input, process, and audit payroll data accurately.

Qualifications :

3–5+ years of hands-on experience in high-volume payroll processing.

Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance requirements (FLSA, FICA, etc.).

Experience with payroll systems such as PeopleSoft, ADP, Workday, UKG, Paycom, or Ceridian.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas and pivot tables.

Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) is a plus.

Experience with multi-state and / or international payroll.

Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) is an advantage.
