Journey Level Machinist - Full Time - Chattanooga (TN), United States

We are looking for a Journey Level Machinist to join our Services_AME team in United States.
Your main tasks and responsibilities :
- Performs layouts, sets up, and operates conventional machine tools as requiredReads and interprets all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Designs setups and methods where none exist
- Instructs other shop personnel in proper machining techniques : set-ups, feeds and speeds for both carbide and high-speed steel cutting tools, methods and standard operating procedures
- Improves methods for higher quality and improved costs
- Assist maintenance in diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance
- Operate jib cranes and forklifts as directed by Supervisor / Area Supervisor
- Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide safety program which includes following all safety policies and procedures
- Supports and cooperates in company-wide quality management effort
- Performs other duties as necessary
To succeed in this role, you will need :
High school graduate or equivalentCompletion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent trainingAbility to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspectionsDemonstrated ability to effectively set up all, or at least most, of the following machines : I.D. / O.D. grinder, turret lathe, engine lathe, knee mill, radial drill, horizontal boring mill, vertical boring mill, and planer millAbility to perform with a minimum of direct supervisionWorking knowledge of tool geometry and applicationWorking knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds4 years experience in machine shops on the above equipmentWillingness to work in a team environmentAbility to work overtime as requiredWhat we offer you :
