Position Overview

Toolkit Tutors is seeking a dedicated and bilingual (English / Spanish) Elementary ELA Tutor to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. This role is based in an elementary school in Queens, supporting students in grades K–5 with 1 : 1 and small-group instruction. While the primary focus is English Language Arts, some mathematics support will also be required. The position involves a mix of push-in and pull-out tutoring, and all work takes place at the school campus.

Tutors will work closely with school faculty and administrators to deliver high-quality instruction, track student progress, and contribute to an engaging, supportive learning environment.

Schedule & Compensation

Pay : $31 / hour (W2 position)
Hours : 6 hours / day (8 : 00 AM – 2 : 00 PM), 4 days / week (Monday – Thursday)
Dates : October 6, 2025 – June 12, 2026 (excluding school / public holidays)

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1 : 1 and small-group tutoring in ELA (and some mathematics) to students in grades K–5.

Implement Toolkit’s K-5 ELA curriculum and adapt lessons to meet individual student needs.

Submit daily reports of tutoring activities and student progress.

Coordinate regularly with classroom teachers, school faculty, and administrators.

Support Toolkit’s mission of delivering consistent, high-impact tutoring in NYC schools.

Requirements

At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience in elementary ELA (in-person).

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.

Fluency in both English and Spanish , with the ability to teach in either language.

Strong preference for candidates already fingerprinted with NYCDOE .

Must reside within 1 hour 15 minutes of the school location in Queens, NY.
