Overview : This full-time evening role involves delivering patient care and transportation services at the advanced life support level, as authorized by EMT-P certification. The position supports a busy metropolitan ambulance service providing emergency, non-emergency, convalescent, and long-distance transport within a regional healthcare network in the Southeastern United States.
Responsibilities : Accurately document patient care records, including billing information and signatures. Perform rescue duties independently or with a crew under supervision. Maintain calm and professionalism under high-stress emergency situations. Drive various ambulance vehicles safely and adhere to established protocols. Lift and move patients and equipment, sometimes up to 150 pounds, while demonstrating knowledge of age-specific patient needs.
Education and Certifications : Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required within six months of hire. Completion of NIMS 100, 200, and 700 courses is mandatory. A valid state driver's license with at least three years of licensed driving experience is required.
Experience : At least one year of field EMS, rescue, or related experience is preferred. Familiarity with emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous materials incidents, and communications equipment is essential. Knowledge of local geography and healthcare facilities within the service area is expected to be acquired within six months.
Requirements : Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare personnel in a compassionate and professional manner. Must be physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and maneuvering in confined spaces. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships are necessary.
