About the Role
This position is responsible for conducting occupational therapy assessments and treatment as it pertains to sensory regulation and motor functioning for children grades K-12 in a school-based setting. Therapist work is directly related to helping each student improve school-based functioning when sensory and / or motoric deficit negatively impact that child’s opportunity to derive educational benefit from classroom instruction. Coordinating OT services with the student’s team, the Occupational Therapist plans, conducts, monitors and reports on each student with that designated instructional service.
Responsibilities
- Conduct formal and informal assessments as needed. Formal assessments include norm-based assessment as part of a student’s triennial re-evaluation.
- Manages a caseload of students at EBC School (Palo Alto and South Bay campus) who receive direct and consultation OT services.
- Delivers Occupational Therapy services as dictated by IEP.
- Prepare and update written annual IEP goals and progress summaries.
- Monitors student progress against established IEP goals and regularly communicates with the student's team and parents regarding participation and progress.
- Attend all school staff meetings, department meetings, and IEP meetings.
- Maintains and selects OT equipment for use in individual and group sessions, and in the classroom as appropriate.
- Collaborates with all team members on a regular basis to ensure carryover of skill development across school settings.
- Completes in-services on areas of expertise related to student skill development in the academic setting.
- Develops & monitors student programs related to IEP goals, ensuring progress across settings.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Required : Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or universityValid California licensure or equivalent OTR certification.Preferred : Three years post-licensure experience in a pediatric clinic or school settingValid CA driving licenseOT assessments and treatment are highly preferred.Required Skills
Ability and desire to work as part of interdisciplinary school setting.Possess strong interpersonal and written communication skills with demonstrated sensitivity to lay and professional audiences.Willingness and flexibility to schedule appointments when students are available.Knowledge and use of evidence-based practice.Knowledge of basic computer skills in order to communicate via email and prepare documents.Knowledge of basic computer skills, including email communication, document preparation, word processing, and completing progress notes in an electronic health record system.Preferred Skills
Three years post-licensure experience in a pediatric clinic or school setting.Valid CA driving license.OT assessments and treatment are highly preferred.Pay range and compensation package
$100,000 - $125,000
