Job description

Overview

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient-centered 50% (20 hours per week) Medical Assistant II (MA II) to work at our UICC Scott Blvd Clinics. This position will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics but could float to other patient specialties / clinic locations including but not limited to Pediatrics and / or Specialty / Outreach Clinics. For over 100 years, UI Health Care’s primary focus has been the health and wellness of our patients. We provide care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services, and more. Our team builds relationships with patients, monitors their care history, and delivers personalized, compassionate care to every patient. Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of a licensed independent practitioner (LIP), RN, NM / ANM or other licensed designee, function as a member of the patient care team.
  • Perform technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.
  • Staff will support our Family Medicine Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word / data processing equipment and / or conventional office equipment.

    Position Details

    Percent of Time : 50% (20 hours per week)

    Schedule : Monday – Thursday from 3 : 00 PM – 8 : 00 PM. No weekends, on-call time, or holiday shifts required. Location : Iowa City, IA (or surrounding clinics based on clinical need or hours). Pay Grade : 9. Salary : $40,903.92 – $60,760.80 at 100% time. Hourly : $19.59 – $29.10 (based on years of experience).

    Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program (including but not limited to : pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology).
  • Special Qualifications / Licenses

  • Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written / verbal communication.
  • Highly Desired Requirements

  • Previous EPIC experience
  • Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience
  • Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork, collaboration, and autonomy in all aspects of the role
  • Previous phlebotomy experience
  • Previous immunization experience
