The Bureau of Infrastructure & Development Permitting (IDP) leads the coordination, permitting, delivery, and acceptance of public infrastructure for major development projects across San Francisco, streamlining reviews and approvals and resolving interagency issues to accelerate housing and citywide development.

Building on the 2023 One City : A Housing for All Action Plan (Executive Directive 23-01) and Public Works' 20252028 Strategic Plan, this role plays a critical part in driving process improvement initiatives that support faster, more efficient project delivery. Reporting directly to the Bureau Manager, you will lead the analysis, design, and implementation of enhancements to both internal operations and cross-agency workflows that impact permitting and infrastructure development. Working collaboratively with City departments and private development partners, you will identify systemic bottlenecks, design practical solutions, and help establish consistent standards and accountability measures to streamline coordination on major capital and development projects.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or planning plus six (6) years of responsible architectural, engineering, or construction management experience, OR A bachelor's degree in another field plus eight (8) years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, OR Ten (10) years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project, OR California registration as a professional engineer or architect plus two years of project coordination experience.
Notes :
One-year full-time employment is considered equivalent to 2000 hours (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
