Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior AI & Automation Engineer (6-Month Contract) in the United States.

This contract role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with deep expertise in AI and automation. You will design, build, and deploy AI agents and automation platforms to streamline workflows, reduce operational toil, and accelerate key processes. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will translate complex requirements into technical solutions that improve efficiency and scalability. The position offers the chance to work remotely on high-impact projects, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to support the growth of innovative scientific and operational initiatives. You will also mentor team members, develop reusable platforms, and act as a subject matter expert in AI-driven automation.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI agents using Python to automate complex business and scientific workflows.
  • Build scalable, robust platforms to support AI agent development and deployment across teams.
  • Automate critical operational tasks including configuration management, user lifecycle management, and monitoring using modern automation tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments (Finance, HR, R&D, etc.) to identify automation opportunities and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the roadmap for enterprise automation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering roles with a strong focus on automation systems.
  • Expert proficiency in Python and experience with AI agent development.
  • Experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.
  • Proven success in designing, building, and deploying AI agents, automation platforms, or complex workflow orchestration systems.
  • Strong understanding of application integration, APIs, middleware, and software engineering best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred : Experience with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen), OpenAI AgentKit / ADK, vector databases for RAG, cloud AI platforms, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi), containerization (Docker / Kubernetes), and serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions).
