ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE

The Dietary Aide works to support the mission and vision of the PACE center by supporting the overall quality of food services. This role will assist with general meals, preparation, service, and clean-up of food services for elderly patients at the PACE center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stage dining room for each meals service; setting tables with napkins, silverware, daily menu, etc.
  • Take and serve orders in a friendly and professional manner; be able to deal with complaints or problems with a positive and attentive attitude.
  • Wash all dishes, silverware, utensils, pots, pans, etc. Ensuring all items are properly sanitized and stored in their correct places.
  • Assist the Cook in the preparation and service of meals; follow each meal ticket to ensure correct diet and portions, participant food preferences, and food allergy prevention.
  • Prepare small dishes like alternative menu items, salads & sandwiches, as well as daily nourishments and snacks.
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves in an accessible and organized manner.
  • Stores prepared food items from vendor in areas with an acceptable temperature prior to meal service.
  • Participate in the general clean up and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas. Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, condiment containers, and linen used in the dining room.
  • Schedule : 7 : 00 a.m. - 3 : 30 p.m..

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma / GED required
  • One year food preparation and service experience required; food service experience within healthcare or social service organizations preferred
  • Valid CPR certification, First Aid and Food Handler Card required
  • Valid BLS certification required upon hire
  • ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with proper food handling with specific dietary requirements
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift / carry 50 lbs. / weight
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • COMPLIANCE (Safety & HIPPA)

  • Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and / or unsafe conditions immediately
  • Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices
  • Follows all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Uses appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment
  • Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
  • Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
  • Maintains privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes
  • Complies with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
  • Reports all behavior and / or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful

    Pay range : $21.00 - $23.58 per hour, depending on experience.
