This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at various UCSD Health campus sites and remote.

This position will be hired at the CLIN SOCIAL WORKER 2 or CLIN SOCIAL WORKER 3 level depending on the experience of the selected candidate.

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Medical Director / Principal Investigator (PI), the Mental Health Counselor will support the UCSD HEAR (Healer Education, Assessment, and Referral) Program for all UCSD Health employees. Responsibilities include leading outreach and education efforts, facilitating emotional processing and debriefs following critical incidents, and providing clinical care and short-term therapeutic support for individuals experiencing distress, burnout, depression, suicidal ideation, or other concerns. The Counselor will conduct confidential assessments, help manage an anonymous suicide prevention screening process, and provide personalized mental health referrals based on need. Additional duties include assisting with research protocols and reporting, serving as a liaison between the HEAR team and partnering programs, and contributing to new initiatives that advance healthcare worker well-being and suicide prevention. Other assignments may be completed as directed by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

CLIN SOCIAL WORKER 2 : Must possess a Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and eligibility for Clinical Social Worker License in CA. CLIN SOCIAL WORKER 3 : Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and possession of a Clinical Social Worker License issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.

Proven knowledge of the principles and practices of empathic, trauma-informed, and evidence based clinical care counsel individuals to provide psychotherapeutic services to patients / clients.

Proven effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of counseling or to support individuals and provide psychotherapeutic services to health care trainees and professionals to assist them in adjusting to the emotional / psychological difficulties associated with work stress.

Proven ability to prioritize workload and work independently.

Proven ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.

Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

Proven ability to take initiative and contribute meaningfully to the team.

Proven ability to assist with mental health referrals by coordinating with the HEAR counselors, UCSD Department of Psychiatry and community mental health professionals and services.

Proven ability to provide screening, assessment, clinical and psychosocial evaluation, crisis intervention, counseling and treatment for healthcare employees with a spectrum of mental health conditions and concerns.

Demonstrated experience in preparing required progress and adverse event reports in compliance with all federal, state and institutional regulations.

Proven ability to maintain positive referral relationships with relevant UC San Diego and community mental health programs.

Demonstrated experience in clinical research.

Demonstrated experience in preparing Institutional Review Board materials, including writing human subjects applications, amending applications, and preparing required progress and adverse event reports in compliance with all federal, state and institutional regulations.

Demonstrated experience with research data entry techniques and software.

Demonstrated familiarity with administering and scoring psychological assessments.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $89,492 - $117,909 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $42.86 - $56.47
