Red Dot Corporation, the leading producer of premium mobile HVAC units and components for heavy-duty commercial and military vehicles, is recruiting for the following position: Procurement Specialist

FLSA: Exempt

Reports to:

Purchasing Manager

Salary Range: $81,168 – $85,000

The salary rate for this position is expected to range between $81,168 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on internal equity and other applicable factors.

Summary Description:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for execution of the tactical supply chain for their assigned parts, meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), meeting department expectations, and managing the daily tasks of the tactical supply chain plan. Also must have in-depth understanding and assist in stocking strategies, data management, and they are sized to meet inventory plan. This position is a key member for Lean and Kaizen efforts regarding inventory, supply chain process improvements, and material layout. A mission critical element of this position is includes on time delivery of parts and ensuring material flow is optimized.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Evaluate procurement activities and procedures and make recommendations for improvements for processes and contracts.
  • Conduct price analysis of proposals from suppliers and performed competitive bid requests.
  • Perform negotiations for contracts for cost, contract language and terms and conditions, leading to cost savings.
  • Schedules orders based on Oracle MRP data to ensure products are available to support Aftermarket and production schedules and comply with departmental goals.
  • Meets or exceeds mutually agreed upon inventory turn and inventory reduction departmental goals.
  • Meets or exceeds mutually agreed upon WRO occurrence goal.
  • Maintains part setup in the system level in MRP system.
  • Prepares and communicate with the supplier, information on MRP exception, open order reports to ensure supplier will comply with delivery commitments.
  • Understanding of how Push and Pull based supply chains work, manufacturing principles and Tactical Supply Chain Operations.
  • Ensures supplier information including product lead time, supplier issues (e.g., product defect), and supplier developments are communicated internally at Red Dot.
  • Assists warranty in return of defective parts from the field and receiving credit.
  • Tracks and manages surplus and obsolete parts, and recommends disposition of parts.
  • Maintains complete and accurate files.
  • Implement and maintains VMI, Kanban, Consignment programs utilizing lean manufacturing principles.
  • Performs standard material planning operation functions.
  • Identifies and communicates supply constraints with possible solutions.
  • Assists in the training of Supply Chain Planners.

  • Ensures all areas are maintained in accordance with company policy, state, federal and regulating entities.
  • Is aware of and actively supports the achievement of departmental goals. Implement new company initiatives as assigned.
  • Provide internal and on-site customer support and problem solving as a work product/services expert. Make recommendations to management regarding solutions.
  • Able to work effectively both individually and in a team with minimal supervision; able to make decisions using own initiative based on company policy and regulating entities. Give regular updates to direct supervisor regarding progress and non-routine occurrences that may disrupt work schedule.
  • Ensure knowledge of the appropriate safety, security and environmental revisions. Handle relevant equipment with care, being concerned with safety and security. Immediately report safety concerns to Supervisor/Lead.
  • Ensure a professional appearance, use professional verbiage and maintain appropriate body language.
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume regulated environment applying strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot, problem-solve and effectively and efficiently make decisions.
  • Strong communication skills with external and internal personnel to include:
  • Active listening skills; ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical subjects to internal and external personnel.
  • Strive for clarity and for alleviation of tension when the need arises.
  • Able to be effective in a wide range of cultural groups and cross-cultural relationships and have the ability to communicate clearly to non-native speakers.
  • Able to work in a progressive, fast-paced environment and amongst multiple interruptions and competing demands.
Requirements

Level Requirements (Minimum):

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field is required.

Experience

Four years of purchasing experience is required.

Advanced Oracle MRP experience, at least 3+ years, is required.

Solid understanding of Lean principals

Must be proficient in MSOffice including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Must have the ability to sit or stand at computer for extended periods of time

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Sufficient manual dexterity and motor control to use common drafting implements and calculators.
