Dermatologist — Outpatient Practice

Sugarloaf Medical P.C. | Suwanee / Metro Atlanta, GA

About the Opportunity

Sugarloaf Medical P.C. is seeking a Board Certified / Board Eligible Dermatologist to join our established primary care practice in North Atlanta. Our privately owned practice, established in 2008, maintains a strong reputation for clinical excellence. As a member of the Emory Healthcare Network, we benefit from strong institutional relationships and streamlined operations. This unique opportunity allows you to serve our existing patient base's dermatological needs while building and growing a dermatology subspecialty service within our multi-specialty practice.

This position is designed for a dermatologist seeking a long-term career home with the entrepreneurial opportunity to develop a thriving dermatology practice within an established medical home. You'll have immediate access to our existing patient base requiring dermatological care, plus the support and resources to attract new dermatology patients from the community. You'll enjoy the personal and professional balance you deserve while building your practice in a supportive multi-provider environment.

Position Details

Practice Scope & Patient Care

You'll provide comprehensive medical and cosmetic dermatology services, initially serving our established primary care patient base with immediate referral volume, while growing the practice to attract external dermatology patients. Our patient population is primarily middle-aged adults, and we accept most commercial insurance plans as well as Medicare. Services will include general dermatology, skin cancer screenings, biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and opportunity to expand into cosmetic procedures based on your interests and expertise. The Emory Healthcare Network manages our payer credentialing, streamlining administrative processes.

Practice Development Opportunity

This position offers the unique advantage of building a dermatology service line within an established practice. You'll have autonomy in developing treatment protocols, service offerings, and practice growth strategies. Our primary care providers will provide a steady stream of internal referrals, ensuring immediate patient volume while you establish your presence in the community. Marketing support and resources are available to help establish the dermatology service as a regional destination.

Work Schedule & Life Balance

This position offers work-life balance with flexible physician work schedules : either 4 clinical days plus 1 administrative day, or 4.5 days with a half administrative day per week, Monday through Friday 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. There are no weekends, no hospital rounds, and no on-call requirements. If the standard schedule options don't meet your needs, we will try to accommodate your preferences within reason.

Work Environment & Support

Our comfortable, well-appointed office provides an excellent working environment with dedicated space for dermatology services. Registered Nurses manage the triage process, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate care, allowing you to focus on patient care. The practice invests in comprehensive marketing to help build your dermatology panel and establish the subspecialty service. You'll work collaboratively with our primary care physicians for comprehensive patient care.

Technology & Equipment

We stay up-to-date with the latest technology, utilizing eClinicalWorks EMR with integrated e-prescribing, patient portal for communication of results, Dragon Medical One dictation, and Sunoh AI medical scribe technology to minimize documentation burden. We are prepared to invest in dermatology-specific equipment and technology based on your clinical needs and practice development plans, including dermatoscopes, surgical equipment, and cosmetic devices as the practice grows.

Referral Network

In addition to internal referrals from our primary care providers, we maintain an extensive network of relationships with Emory, Northside, Piedmont, Northeast Georgia Health System, and independent practices throughout Metro Atlanta. These relationships will support both incoming referrals to your dermatology practice and outgoing referrals for specialized care when needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Compensation Structure

We offer a competitive base salary with additional productivity bonus based on collections per calendar year. The first-year productivity bonus will be prorated based on your start date. A sign-on bonus is provided in the first year, and relocation assistance is available for qualifying candidates. As the dermatology service grows, compensation structure can be revisited to reflect practice volume and revenue generation.

Student Loan Support

Our student loan repayment assistance program helps reduce educational debt burden as part of our commitment to physician financial wellness.

Insurance Benefits

Comprehensive benefits include a health insurance allowance, dental insurance coverage, vision insurance coverage, and malpractice insurance with tail coverage fully paid by the practice.

Retirement & Time Off

We provide a 401(k) with employer match, generous PTO, and all major holidays off. CME allowance is provided annually to support your ongoing professional development and dermatology conference attendance.

Location & Flexibility

Primary Location - Suwanee

Alternative Location Options

If you're interested in establishing satellite dermatology services at different locations within the Metro Atlanta area as the practice grows, we are happy to discuss expansion opportunities. We are actively planning growth and welcome conversations about mutually beneficial location strategies.
