CTE Director BUILDING MAINTENANCE (ABOUT THIS PROGRAM) : The Building Maintenance Pre-Apprenticeship program will prepare students at the high school level to be considered for local apprenticeship programs with trade unions and both private and public organizations.Students will receive assistance in matching up their skills and interest to a specific career path and will learn basic technical and career readiness skills that will prepare them for full-time apprenticeship.Students will participate in a variety of work-based learning activities including professional career coaching from one of over local business partners, workplace visits, job shadowing, part-time school year, full-time summer internships and / or paid & unpaid pre-apprenticeship positions.REPORTS TO :
CTE DIRECTOR GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students.Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student.Supervise students in a variety of school related settings.Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community.Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations Develops Year long Unit Plans and Daily Lesson Plans curriculum in accordance with NYS, National & Industry Standards Administers assessments to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress Keeps attendance records Maintains discipline in classroom Meets with parents to discuss student progress and problems Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops Performs related duties such as student organizations [SkillsUSA] organization and activities Complies with school and school board policies and regulations Demonstrates professional growth Prompt and accurate with required records and reports Uses instructional and planning time effectively Assumes responsibility for care of materials, equipment, and facilities Assumes responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students committed to his / her care Demonstrates knowledge of the subject being taught Pursues employment opportunities, Internships and Apprenticeships in support of the instructional objectives of Post-Graduation CTE Career Pathway Any additional tasks that may come up For further details on our expectations for classroom educators, explore the Danielson Framework for Teaching.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Skilled in landscape, custodial services, building trade, building maintenance, basic electrical wiring, basic plumbing, concrete and masonry, and wood construction.Ability to create a safe laboratory environment, following OSHA standards for safe practices.Demonstrated ability to comply with federal, state, and local safety legal requirements, including OSHA and EPA.WORK ENVIRONMENT :
This job operates in a school setting but teaches Building Maintenance.This role requires regular walking within the classroom and around the school.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping throughout much of the day.The employee may periodically lift and / or move items over 20 pounds.BENEFITS :
