Medical Assistant (MA)
Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM-5 : 00 PM (No weekends)
Location : Wilson, NC
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to provide high-quality clinical support and patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The MA will work under the direction of registered nursing staff and physicians / physician extenders to perform clinical assessments, assist with treatments and procedures, provide patient education, and support daily clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care and administer medications and treatments as directed.
- Assist healthcare professionals with exams, diagnostic procedures, and minor medical treatments.
- Room and prepare patients for examinations and assist as needed.
- Obtain, verify, and document patient health history and clinical data.
- Collect biological samples and perform basic in-house laboratory procedures.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, treatment instructions, and test results in the medical record.
- Respond to non-emergent patient calls, providing appropriate physician-guided advice and direction.
- Schedule diagnostic tests and procedures as requested by providers.
- Facilitate referrals and insurance authorizations for managed care patients.
- Relay prescription refill requests via phone, fax, or e-prescription per protocol.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA safety guidelines and confidentiality standards.
- Provide patient education and support physician instructions to promote wellness.
Required Competencies
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.Ability to follow medical orders and initiate appropriate emergency procedures.Skilled in taking vital signs, blood draws, injections, and using medical equipment and supplies.Strong time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow compliance standards.Strong interpersonal communication and ability to work effectively with patients and care teams.Basic computer and EMR proficiency.Mathematical skills for medication dosage calculations.Physical Requirements
Standing and walking for up to 90% of the day.Frequent bending, reaching, and sitting.Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to assist patients.Fine motor skills and adequate visual acuity.Education & Experience
Required :
High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum one year of medical office experience.EMR experience.Preferred :
Experience in GI settings (not required).Certifications
