PCU Nursing Job Details

Location : Asheville, NC 28801 – Owen Heart Center, 5th Floor

Unit : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – E5 CARD

Assignment Type : Travel RN

Start Date : November 2, 2025

End Date : February 1, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Hours per Week : 36

Shift : 12-hour days (6 : 45 AM – 7 : 15 PM), every other weekend required

Open Positions : 3 PCU RN jobs

Dress Code : All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1680 - $1800

PCU RN Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

BLS and ACLS certifications (required for nursing jobs)

Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown or progressive care nursing experience

Telemetry experience required

Proficient in administering and titrating cardiac IV medications (nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, bumex / Lasix)

Preferred : Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) and relief charge nurse duties

Strong teamwork, flexibility, positive attitude, and compassionate patient care

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-cardiac procedures

Monitor and manage patients using telemetry and advanced cardiac equipment (Zoll, Baxter pumps, bladder scanner, lift equipment)

Administer and titrate cardiac IV medications as ordered

Perform bedside procedures such as cardioversion

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including charge nurses, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), and unit secretaries

Float to MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding as needed

Document patient care using Cerner EMR

Adhere to unit policies and guidelines reviewed during orientation
