Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , where you will care for a diverse and complex patient population, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleeding evacuations, AVMs, and tumor resectionsCervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeriesHemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke ProgramA high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients along with medical overflow casesAs part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , our unit offers exposure to cutting-edge neurosurgical techniques and care.

Assess patients' needs, implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness.Recognize significant changes in patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare teams for coordinated care.Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and assess readiness to learn for patients and families.Coordinate discharge plans through an interdisciplinary approach and apply evidence-based practices.Evaluate patient and team outcomes and engage in shared governance to improve processes.Promote a culture of safety and ensure reporting of patient safety events.Employ ethical decision-making and maintain positive relationships with team members and patients.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and seek professional development opportunities.Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan.Licensure, Registration, and Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license issued by the state.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).Education Required :
Completion of an accredited Nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Ability to provide holistic patient care and recognize situational changes requiring intervention.Proficient in computer skills, electronic medical records, and communication.Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with patients and team members.Strong organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated leadership and delegation skills within a care team.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to stand, sit, walk, lift, bend, reach, and twist throughout the workday.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.Exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases.Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and use fine hand manipulation skills.This description provides a general overview of the role and may include other related duties as needed.
