Truck Driver - Flatbed at Capitol Concrete Products

Capitol Concrete Products Inc. , a proud supplier of masonry and hardscape products and accessories is looking to fill the position of Class A Truck Driver – Flatbed. This is a full-time non-exempt union position with a starting wage of $24. Generally, the schedule will be Monday – Friday. This position will drive a tractor-transport trailer to deliver raw materials over the road to and from specific sites and designated destinations.  Benefits are through the union along with a 401k plan.

Job Requirements

• Combination of education, training, and experience to perform the duties as required.
• Knowledge or experience with driving a semi-tractor, trailer, and forklift. Additionally, knowledge about concrete block, masonry products, hardscape products, and other building materials with the ability to work safely or the ability to be trained.
• Must have physical strength to perform required duties of the position. (Handles and moves objects and equipment with the potential weight up to 100 pounds).
• Ability to concentrate on tasks and projects.
• Ability to understand and communicate with management and co-workers in order to carry out the duties and tasks assigned. (Communication Proficiency)
• Ability to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors.
• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records (Part 391.11(b)(2))
• Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A license with appropriate endorsements.
• Maintains a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and company policy.
• Ability to expedite communication to supervisors and / or appropriate personnel needed for mechanical repairs or addressing other issues of concern.
• Teamwork with ability to operate on own initiative.
• Highly disciplined to follow through with assignments and tasks.
• Must be able to pass federal DOT drug / alcohol screening and physical as well as random drug screenings.
• Adheres to safety requirements and procedures and wearing of required safety equipment and clothing.
• Operate Company Vehicles and equipment i.e. semi-tractor, forklift etc.
• Ensures that property, safety, and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Occasionally walk / carry objects on varying terrain – paved, unpaved, dirt, rough terrain, etc.
• Requires balance and equilibrium when climbing ladder and on / off equipment as well as moving through the production facility, yard, and job sites.
• Continuously work in various weather conditions – hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, wind etc.
• Performs materials transportation, handling, and storage.
• Maintains accurate and timely paperwork load tickets, return tickets, logbook, fuel receipts etc.
• Other duties as required may include performing other duties associated with other job descriptions within the company.
