Position Summary :
Abhaya Wellness is seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience or interest in addiction psychiatry to join our outpatient team. The ideal provider will deliver compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric and substance use treatment for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions as well as for individuals with general psychiatric diagnoses.
This will be performed in a supportive, team-based environment and serving patients in the clinic's mindfulness-based substance use disorder intensive outpatient program (IOP) as well as general psychiatric outpatients.

Key Responsibilities :
Perform thorough psychiatric evaluations and substance use disorder assessments while formulating differential diagnosesDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventionsProvide psychoeducation to clients and families regarding medications and treatment plansInitiate and manage medications for substance use disorders (including medication assisted treatment) and psychiatric co-morbiditiesMonitor patient progress, treatment adherence, and side effects through regular follow-upsCollaborate closely with therapists, peer recovery specialists, and shared providers in the communityProvide education on harm reduction, overdose prevention (e.g., naloxone), and relapse prevention strategiesParticipate in team meetings, case reviews, and interdisciplinary care planningMaintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to controlled substance prescribingPractice of evidence-based medicineAdhere to clinic policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirementsWork closely with the clinic's medical directorA dedication to continuing to grow and learn within your practice of medicineRequired Qualifications :
Active and unrestricted licensure as a PMHNP or PA in North CarolinaNational Board CertificationCurrent DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) registrationAt least one year of outpatient psychiatric experienceExcellent communication, decision-making, and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications :
A current personal mindfulness practice and interest in mindfulness based treatment modalitiesPrior experience in addiction medicine, community mental health, or dual-diagnosis careFamiliarity with evidence-based models such as SBIRT, harm reduction, or motivational interviewingExperience using EHR systemsBilingual or multilingual abilities a plusWork Environment :
