Summary : The Lead Licensed Vocational Nurse plays a crucial role in assisting Physicians with the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for administering direct patient care, following physician orders for treatments, and managing medication as per hospital policies.
Responsibilities :
- Evaluate and appraise the client's condition, contributing to a thorough assessment by the Provider.
- Support continuous data collection to understand patient needs.
- Engage in planning personalized nursing care and implementing individualized care plans.
- Deliver care that aligns with LVN scope of practice and applicable nursing laws.
- Educate patients and families about common health issues and clearly defined learning objectives.
- Complete tasks efficiently while providing basic, direct care to assigned patients.
- Respond promptly to patient and family inquiries, ensuring effective communication.
- Keep patients and families continuously informed before, during, and after treatments and procedures.
- Utilize medical supplies and equipment responsibly, documenting usage and charges accurately in the medical record.
- Adhere to timekeeping protocols and maintain punctuality, accruing no more than three unscheduled absences.
- Follow nursing policies for accurate medication administration, IV therapy, and blood therapy, promptly reporting any errors.
- Communicate vital patient information clearly and concisely to the supervising Physician.
- Identify normal and abnormal physiological signs and symptoms in patient care, attending to psychosocial needs as well.
- Document observations, treatments, nursing interventions, and patient responses accurately in the patient record.
- Adhere to hospital dress and personal hygiene standards.
- Follow safety precautions and comply with hospital and department policies.
- Participate in infection control, safety education, and other assigned training.
- Comply with guidelines from CHRISTUS Health and HIPAA regulations to protect patient information.
- Complete required educational assignments promptly, seeking out additional learning opportunities.
- Identify personal strengths and areas for professional development, setting goals with guidance.
- Create a supportive environment for the clinical education of nursing and healthcare students by sharing knowledge and demonstrating procedures.
- Engage in unit quality improvement initiatives and assist in monitoring activities, reporting any issues to managers or charge nurses.
- Participate in at least 80% of in-service programs and departmental meetings, following up on any missed information.
Requirements :
Graduate of an accredited Vocational School of Nursing.Preferred six (6) months of experience in a related field.Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.AHA BLS certification within two (2) weeks of employment.Work Schedule :
