Job description

Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals

This new project aims to measurably reduce Americans' exposure to harmful endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). The project will focus on reducing exposure to the most harmful EDCs in use in the near-term, while laying the foundation for longer-term policy reform to prevent additional harmful EDCs from being introduced. The Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals project is a collaboration between Pew's Environment and Government Performance portfolios.

The Environment Portfolio focuses on science-based, nonpartisan, and sustainable solutions to help protect the planet and people. We work in partnership with governments, Indigenous rights holders, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, local stakeholders, scientists, and other researchers to advance public policy so that nature and communities can thrive.

The Government Performance portfolio provides the nonpartisan research, solutions, and momentum decisionmakers need to ensure our institutions improve the health of people in the United States and enable them to successfully climb the economic ladder. Those goals are pursued through a wide range of the portfolio's policy-focused projects (with explorations into new areas underway)-from ensuring states' finances are prepared for future volatility, to unlocking gateways to mental health care, to addressing the nation's lack of attainable housing.

Position Overview

The senior associate will be part of a team that serves a key role in advancing scientific research and knowledge of endocrine disrupting chemicals. This work is part of a broader effort to reduce exposure to the most harmful EDCs in the near term while laying the foundation for longer term reform to prevent additional harmful EDCs from being introduced to the economy and the environment. Reporting to the officer, the senior associate will provide support by conducting background research, contributing to the production of research materials, and providing other project management assistance.

Located in Pew's Washington D.C. office, this position participates in Pew's hybrid work program with core days in the office and the flexibility to telework the remaining days. Staff also enjoy four telework "flex weeks" per year.

  • Conduct targeted literature reviews, gathering relevant scientific and gray literature, to help the project better understand and address relevant scientific and policy questions related to endocrine disrupting chemicals.
  • Support knowledge management for the project by collecting and sharing team learnings and developing analyses to assist all the project's workstreams (Policy, Cross-cutting, Private Sector).
  • In collaboration with relevant external experts and Pew colleagues, support the development of research proposals and research materials such as issue briefs, web features, newsletters, and other materials.
  • Assist in project management of external research by contractors, grantees, and other relevant partners.
  • Facilitate engagement with Pew's research quality and support staff as part of the internal review and approval processes of research projects to ensure sound methodologies and accurate findings.
  • Collaborate with Pew's communications department to prepare materials for the project's website and ensure that they are timely, accurate, and relevant.
  • Participate in activities that support program and Pew-wide objectives.
